Set against a prized waterfront backdrop, Wingspan is a home designed with quiet confidence. From the street, its presence is refined and understated. However, beyond the entry, the home unfolds into a dramatic, light-filled sanctuary shaped by curved architecture, expansive views and a deeply considered material palette.
Central to this palette is the use of natural stone, which plays a defining role in establishing the home’s sense of calm, cohesion and understated luxury.
We were honoured at Finestone Granite & Marble to supply the Sassi Di Matera marble, featured throughout the kitchen, alfresco area and master ensuite. Chosen for its soft, neutral base and subtle variation, the stone introduces depth and movement while maintaining a refined and consistent aesthetic. The honed finish enhances its natural character, allowing the material to quietly anchor each space without overpowering it.
In the kitchen and outdoor BBQ area, the marble pairs seamlessly with Polytec joinery, creating a balanced contrast of texture and tone. In the master ensuite, it is complemented by Evenex surfaces, reinforcing a sense of continuity. The result is a layered, tactile palette that feels both timeless and contemporary.
A collaboration between Our Next Project and PJH Constructions, Wingspan reflects what is possible when vision, craftsmanship and collaboration align.
Positioned to maximise its northern aspect and sweeping canal views toward the Surfers Paradise skyline, the home’s layout is strategic and intuitive. The architectural concept, designed by Jayson Pate Design, centres around a distinctive “wingspan” formation, with two wings extending around a landscaped central garden.
This configuration allows natural light and cross-ventilation to flow effortlessly throughout the home, while strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor living.
Despite a narrow street frontage, the home expands dramatically toward the rear. External zones, including a waterfront alfresco, pool and fire pit area, create multiple spaces for entertaining and relaxation, all oriented to capture sunlight and uninterrupted water views.
Wingspan achieves a rare balance between scale and liveability. The home includes five bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, alongside a study, gym, wine room, butler’s pantry and three separate living areas.
Circulation through the home is anchored by a striking spiral staircase finished in Venetian plaster, both a sculptural centrepiece and a functional spine. A concaved feature window further enhances the architectural language, framing the water beyond and drawing natural light deep into the interior.
Every space has been carefully considered to support modern living, offering flexibility without compromising on design integrity.
Wingspan is not only visually striking. It is also a technically demanding build. The home’s curved forms required meticulous planning and precise execution across all stages of construction.
From the sculptural staircase to the seamless integration of microcement finishes by Render X, every detail reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and innovation. Challenges such as limited site access and the complexities of a waterfront location were carefully managed through strong collaboration between trades, consultants and builder, resulting in a home that feels effortless despite the complexity behind it.
The level of detail throughout Wingspan is a testament to the skill of the team behind it. From bespoke joinery by Realistic Fitouts to expert stonework by Hot Rock, each element has been delivered to an exceptional standard.
Finestone’s contribution extended beyond product supply. The ability to view full slabs in a relaxed showroom environment allowed for confident material selection, ensuring the final result aligned seamlessly with the design vision.
