Set in the lush Byron hinterland of Talofa, NSW, this kitchen is a striking example of what happens when exceptional design vision meets meticulous craftsmanship and premium materials such as natural stone. Conceived by Evoque Interiors and brought to life by Solid Kitchens ‘n’ Cabinets, this bold yet refined space blends moody tones, tactile finishes, and considered detailing to create an interior that feels both grounded and luxurious.

THE NATURAL STONE THAT SETS THE TONE

At the heart of the design lies an 80mm Leathered Belvedere Stone island – supplied by Finestone and expertly fabricated by B & H Stone. With its deep black base, striking quartz veining, and shimmering gold-toned flecks, this natural stone benchtop is more than just a surface – it’s the centrepiece that defines the entire space. The rich, tactile leathered finish not only adds depth but enhances the kitchen’s overall mood and texture, anchoring the space with bold sophistication.

The pairing of this dark natural stone with matte black cabinetry and woven brass accents delivers a layered, atmospheric aesthetic and creates a luxurious tone that feels both timeless and contemporary.

OVERCOMING SITE CHALLENGES

As with many renovations, the existing home presented a few obstacles: asymmetrical ceiling angles, awkward window placements, and structural constraints. The team at Solid Kitchens ‘n’ Cabinets responded with clever reconfigurations and precise joinery detailing, ensuring the final design met the brief for a seamless, highly functional space.

The craftsmanship of B & H Stone was crucial in realising the design’s centrepiece. The dramatic 80mm thick stone benchtop, with its flawless vertical column integration, stands as a refined, sculptural feature that speaks to the skill involved in its fabrication and installation.

The bold, rich aesthetic was seamlessly continued throughout the home, with Finestone’s Infinity quartzite showcased in the statement fireplace and the leathered Belvedere Quartzite carried through to the luxurious dressing room and bathroom vanity.
