A fresh take on a Gold Coast icon

The reimagined Mamasan Broadbeach brings a fresh take on a well-loved dining destination, combining bold design with thoughtful detail. The brief called for balance.  Raw yet refined. Industrial yet warm. The result is an immersive space that feels contemporary and cohesive while retaining a sense of comfort and soul.

Designing for atmosphere and emotion

Designed by Space Cubed Design Studio, the interior draws on subtle Asian influences and the idea of hospitality as an art form. Every surface and texture was chosen to create a strong sensory experience.

The greatest challenge lay in crafting a venue that could effortlessly transition from the soft vibrancy of daytime dining to the intimate indulgence of evening service – all while maintaining Mamasan’s signature sense of elegance and soul.

A statement in stone: Cosmopolitan quartzite

A highlight of the project is the use of Cosmopolitan Quartzite from Finestone, which forms a dramatic feature behind the bar. Full slabs of the stone were back-lit to create a soft, ambient glow that adds warmth and depth to the room.

The natural variation of reds, pinks, and earthy tones ties beautifully into the venue’s “unexpected red colour theory,” designed to evoke energy and connection.

Refined detail and durability 

The same stone is also featured in key touchpoints, including table tops and the maître d’ counter, offering both durability and timeless appeal.
