STONES USED:
Cinque Terre Dolomite – Kitchen, master ensuite, powder room

There are some projects that feel deeply connected to where they belong. Sandbox Properties latest project, Kyma Ocean Villas, is one of them.

Positioned between Currimundi Lake and the Pacific Ocean, Kyma is a collection of five refined ocean villas designed to reflect the rhythm of coastal living – calm, relaxed and connected to landscape. From the very beginning, materiality played an important role in telling that story, and we were incredibly proud to see our Cinque Terre Dolomite selected throughout the kitchens, master ensuites and powder rooms.

At Finestone, we genuinely love supporting projects like this. Not just because of the finished outcome, but because of the people and thinking behind them. We work closely with designers, builders and developers who care deeply about how spaces feel, how they age, and how they contribute to the character of a local area. Kyma is a beautiful example of that approach.

Materiality That Feels Calm and Enduring

The project draws inspiration from the Grecian coastline, with sculptural forms and softened curves designed to echo the movement of waves. Even the name “Kyma” – meaning wave – carries through the architecture, creating a strong connection between the built form and the surrounding coastline.

What we love most is that despite the level of detail and refinement, the project still feels relaxed and grounded. The homes are warm rather than overworked. Elegant without feeling pretentious. Every material feels considered.

Why natural stone was central to the vision

The use of Cinque Terre Dolomite helped anchor that palette. Natural stone has a way of bringing permanence and quiet texture into a space, particularly within coastal architecture where balance is everything. Paired with warm timber detailing, soft natural light and restrained interiors, the stone adds depth without overpowering the design.

Supporting Projects That Elevate Local Living

Sandbox described their vision for Kyma as homes that balance privacy, openness and connection to both water and landscape – standalone-feeling residences designed for the way people genuinely want to live. That thinking resonates strongly with us at Finestone. We believe the best projects are the ones that elevate everyday living while contributing positively to the communities around them.

As a family-owned, developer-led design and construct company, Sandbox Properties focus on creating places that enrich how people live, connect and belong. They describe it simply: “We work where we play; creating places that share our way of living with others.” And honestly, you can feel that throughout Kyma.

A Collaborative Local Team

We’re also incredibly appreciative of the ongoing relationships that sit behind projects like this. Sandbox shared that Finestone’s reliability and consistency within an often volatile construction procurement environment has been an important part of the partnership – something we never take for granted.

Projects like Kyma are a reminder of why we love what we do. Collaborating with thoughtful local teams, supplying materials that become part of someone’s everyday experience, and seeing beautiful architecture contribute something meaningful back to the coastline and community around it.
