At Finestone, we are always thrilled to see our natural stone products come to life in breathtaking designs. When Perri, from House of Pez (formally Renovating Mates) came to us with her ideas for this extraordinary home, we knew it would be something truly special.
Having worked with Perri before, we have always admired her bold and brave approach to interior design. This latest project is no exception – an inspired fusion of luxury, moodiness, and eclectic sophistication. Her ability to take risks and seamlessly blend different styles into a cohesive and striking aesthetic is a treat to witness.

An Inspired Design
This home is a divine blend of eras, creating the ambiance of a luxury, moody hotel with elements of mid-century and modern design. The design brief aimed to transport residents to a stylish and funky New York-inspired hotel, right in the heart of the Gold Coast. Every element, from the floor plan to the smallest design details, was meticulously curated to create a private yet opulent retreat. The finishing touches, including a mix of luxurious and vintage pieces, further enhance the home’s unique character, giving it the charm of a home that has evolved over decades.
It’s incredibly exciting to see the design trend of maximalism come through in some of our most talented clients. House of Pez has pulled this off beautifully, layering design elements, styles, and finishes in a way that feels both intentional and effortless. Their ability to merge bold patterns, rich textures, and luxurious materials creates an environment that feels exciting yet harmonious. The fearless use of colour and unique decorative choices further amplify the distinct character of the home, making it a true standout.
Overcoming Challenges
As with any ambitious project, challenges arose along the way. One of the main constraints was achieving the high-end aesthetic within budget limitations. Close collaboration with their expert stone mason allowed for the most efficient use of each slab, ensuring that the luxurious feel of the project remained uncompromised. Working with Finestone provided House of Pez with access to premium stone across the entire home, reinforcing the elegance and cohesion of the design. Given the house’s rich layers of color, pattern, and texture, fine-tuning the styling was essential to achieving a harmonious final look.

Perri and her husband Eddie (@beithbuildinganddevelopments) began their renovation journey 12 years ago when they bought their first property, a unit on the Gold Coast. They poured their hearts into building and renovating, and haven’t stopped since. With a passion for designing unique homes, a lot of learning along the way, the couple created Renovating Mates.
Now, with a wealth of experience under their belts and a kick ass portfolio of work Perri has rebranded Renovating Mates to House of Pez. House of Pez reflects the couple’s growth into a larger team, fresh energy and an even “stronger commitment to creating homes that are as unique as the people who live in them.”
