Located on the Gold Coast, Dawn House is a thoughtfully designed coastal residence that balances refined architecture with expressive, personality-led interiors. Spanning three light-filled levels, the home reflects a relaxed yet elevated way of living, brought to life through a close collaboration between Huntress & Hound, BDA Architecture and DA Project Management.
Central to the interior story is the considered use of natural stone from Finestone Granite & Marble, with two standout selections — Abbey Green marble (honed) and Breccia Savoia marble — defining key spaces within the home.
Inspired by the vibrant ease of coastal living, the design brief called for a home that felt warm, playful and timeless. Clean architectural lines form a minimalist framework, allowing colour, texture and materiality to take centre stage.
Huntress + Hound curated a layered palette that embraces pattern, tone and bespoke detailing, from joinery design and fixtures to furniture, lighting and spatial planning. This thoughtful approach results in interiors that feel relaxed and inviting while maintaining a strong sense of refinement and cohesion throughout the home.
The kitchen is a defining feature of Dawn House, anchored by the bold yet timeless presence of Abbey Green marble. With its rich green tones and natural veining, the stone introduces depth and character while remaining grounded and elegant.
Used on the oversized kitchen island and on the splashback, the Abbey Green marble creates a striking contrast against the home’s light, natural-toned cabinetry. Abundant natural light enhances the honed finish, allowing the organic movement of the stone to subtly shift throughout the day.
The result is a kitchen that feels both luxurious and functional — a space designed for everyday living, entertaining and connection, elevated through the considered use of natural stone.
In the powder room, Breccia Savoia marble takes centre stage, delivering drama and indulgence. With its expressive veining and warm tonal variation, the stone transforms the compact space into a refined, boutique hotel style interior.
Careful attention was given to the surrounding finishes, with multiple wall colour samples tested to ensure the stone was perfectly complemented. This meticulous process highlights the importance of material harmony and reinforces Breccia Savoia as the hero of the space.
The finished powder room feels intimate, luxurious and highly considered — the natural stone defining the mood and experience of the space.
One of the key challenges of the project was balancing expressive stone selections with the home’s minimalist architectural structure. Through restraint, thoughtful detailing and precise material pairing, the design team ensured each element enhanced rather than overwhelmed the overall aesthetic.
The natural stone selections add warmth, texture and personality, while still feeling cohesive within the broader interior design.
