Some homes are designed.
Others are envisioned for years before the first line is ever drawn.

For Foundation Homes QLD co-directors Edward and Bobbie, Amani Place was never just a house.  It was a personal project shaped by patience, observation and respect for the land it would eventually sit upon.

“Amani Place was never just a house to us. It was a long-held vision, shaped by years of imagining, walking the land, watching storms roll across the valley, and understanding what it truly meant to build a home that belonged to its environment.”

At Finestone Granite & Marble, we always feel genuinely honoured to become part of someone’s story – particularly one like Edward and Bobbie’s, where a vision unfolds slowly over time. We truly appreciate the care and consideration they bring to selecting natural stone, taking the time to ensure each piece is exactly right for the home and the environment it sits within.

Living the land before building on it

Long before construction began, Edward and Bobbie lived on the three-acre block in a small studio at its lower boundary. For years, they would walk to the highest point of the property, where the home now stands, imagining what could be.

Those quiet observations became the foundation of every decision that followed.

“Living on-site before building allowed us to learn the rhythms of the land – the path of the sun, the direction of the winds, the wildlife that moved through, and the way the landscape transformed after rain. By the time construction began, the home already felt like it existed.”

The heart of the home – natural stone as art

While every element of Amani Place was thoughtfully considered, the natural stone selections elevate the home from beautiful, to unforgettable.

Foundation Homes partnered with Finestone Granite & Marble to source materials they viewed not simply as finishes – but as centrepieces.

“We considered them as pieces of art, not just building materials.”

Avocado Quartzite – the sculptural centrepiece

The 4.6-metre leathered Quartzite Avocado island bench is undeniably the heart of the home.

“You simply cannot walk past it without wanting to touch the leathered finish and stare at the complexities of the stone itself.”

Its organic green tones mirror the surrounding landscape, acting as a continuation of the outdoors inside. The leathered finish enhances both texture and durability, offering a tactile experience that invites interaction.

“It is a real ‘wow’ factor of the home. It stops people in their tracks.”

Beyond aesthetics, it offers resilience.

“It’s durable and practical. We can live here without being precious. Lots of red wine can be spilt and there is no stress.”

Infinity Quartzite – seamless continuity

Complementing the hero island is Infinity Quartzite, used across the kitchen red bench, splashback, BBQ area, laundry and butler’s pantry.

The honed finish offers subtle elegance, reinforcing the design philosophy of cohesion and longevity.

Used consistently across multiple zones, Infinity Quartzite creates a seamless material flow throughout the property.

Designing a home that disappears

Partnering with Aboda Design Group, Foundation Homes refined a design they had been shaping in their minds for years.

The brief was uncompromising:

“Every room must have a view, and the home must feel connected to nature while remaining visually unobtrusive from the street.”

Window placement was intentional, framing landscape while shielding neighbouring properties. Colour became a critical tool. “There would be no white in this home.” Instead colours were selected to allow the home to recede into it’s natural environment.

Over time, Amani Place has settled into the hilltop. Native gardens have matured, wildlife wanders freely, and black cockatoos pass overhead morning and evening.

The views shift constantly — misty mornings, golden afternoons, dramatic hinterland sunsets.

“The home feels relaxed now, at ease in its place.”

In the master ensuite, calm meets boldness with a Concrete Republic bath set against native gardens and layered textures, further evidence of a home designed for lived experience, not showroom perfection.

Working With Finestone Granite & Marble

The partnership with Finestone was seamless.

“The team were always informative and responsive. When we visited the Rocklea shed, they shared the story of their journey — which we appreciated, as we value the effort in building small businesses.”

Foundation Homes continue to recommend and specify Finestone products for future projects — confident in both the quality of materials and the service provided.

Built to last. Built to be lived in – the Foundation Homes difference.

For Foundation Homes, this project represents more than craftsmanship — it reflects their philosophy.

“We build homes to be lived in, celebrated and loved — never cookie-cutter, never compromised.”

Based on the Sunshine Coast, Foundation Homes QLD are award-winning builders known for their integrity, humility and attention to detail. With Edward leading construction and Bobbie delivering interior design expertise, their homes are cohesive, thoughtful and enduring.

“Being able to create more homes like this, using nature’s produce as key elements in the design, is what fuels us.”
